Wound Care Kit
Wounds are a public health issue that is too often overlooked and requires long and expensive care. During emergencies (conflict, earthquake ...) wounds are a major problem.
For several years, progress has led to the development of innovative international protocols and more efficient equipment that unfortunately remains expensive and not widely available in resource-limited countries.
A wound care kit is a box containing essential medical equipment for the management of wounds in a health center. This kit is used by the main international solidarity organizations (MSF, ICRC, UNHCR ...)
The current kit was created more than 30 years ago and does not take into account the progress made in the management of wounds and the emergence of new materials. An update of its content was essential.
The HUGs in collaboration with WAWLC and WHO have defined a new wound care kit.
This new kit allows you to:
- Standardize care protocols using the same material
- Harmonize training
- Facilitate the establishment of a list of critical wound care materials from WHO
- Facilitate the management of health centers and the establishment of their budget
- Initiate negotiations with the pharmaceutical industry for preferential prices.
